Amusement Industry , comprising amusement parks, theme parks and indoor amusement centres are excellent drivers of domestic tourism.
The industry, once re-opened, is likely to further boost the domestic tourism sector of the country. With hotels, malls, restaurants and shopping markets having re-started , with certain riders and conditions, in most parts of the country, re-opening of this tourism segment may just be a matter of time.
It is however necessary for the amusement Industry to ensure that adequate measures are put in place at the parks, like crowd management by regulating number of visitors ; keeping safe physical distance of 6 feet between visitors ; sanitising the area between rides and following other health-safety protocols ,that have been issued by Union Government and State Govts, while re-opening tourism destinations, hospitality services, malls, restaurants and market places.
It is appreciable that IAAPI, the national apex body of amusement industry of India, in anticipation, have already re-designed their outdoor and indoor entertainment and amusement Parks , as required under health-safety protocol and guidelines of the Government
and has also prepared a document “IAAPI Recommended Guidance for Reopening of Amusement Parks in India” as a guiding book for all parks in the country, for safety of visitors and employees.
Amusement Industry in India is still at a nascent stage compared to the western world, and therefore has huge potential to grow. Although the Industry has been badly hit by Covid pandemic, it has the resilience to rebuild and bounce back, once it gets the go-ahead of re-opening.
It was a pleasure to address and interact with members of amusement Industry of India on the subject ‘ Re-building of Amusement Industry Post Covid-19’
